While the number of sales over $1.5M remained constant at 17 throughout 2016-2017, 90278 home prices set new record highs with the highest priced sale exceeding the previous high by almost $100K.

FYI, these days you hear a lot of Brokers touting themselves as selling "luxury real estate" but not really defining what they mean by that.
For me, it is the top 10% of the market as defined by price. At that level you are exceeding the needs of housing in the area and presumably enjoying amenities beyond the what other homes offer.

I had to include at least one resale in the list and this is it.
I loved this property when it was previously listed for $2.2M which was more than the North Redondo Beach market could bear. At least at the time. I liked it even better last year for $1.799M and someone got a great deal at $1,725,000.
This home reminds me of something i would expect to see in venice not the South Bay.
